We are back from California (again!)

We are finally back from California and are now trying to figure out where to store all of Lauren's college stuff since she won't be able to use most of it next year in GERMANY! We had a great time seeing Adam and Katie and taking a day trip to Catalina Island. We also got to see Mark and Tony and spent the afternoon with them in Santa Monica. Pat and Susie came to Malibu for the Pepperdine Lectures so we also saw them for four days! It's good to be back home and get back to some type of normal routine. Jim was out of town with the Dry Bones staff and Board this weekend and will be in route on Wednesday to South Dakota to make a presentation to the president of the company on Thursday. He is going on the company jet so he won't have to hassle with the screwed up airlines! That's all for now...

Lori's Trip to South Carolina

While Kaitlin was off wowing the judges in Florida (congratulations Kaitlin!) I was playing on the beach in South Carolina! I went with three friends and stayed at the Isle of Palms. We went for the express purpose of visiting Jessie Southern who is a nurse there. We had a great time. Day 1...Fun at the Beach. Day 2...Walking tour of downtown Charleston and a tour of an old estate. Day 3...church and sea kayaking. Day 4...Up for the sunrise, back to condo for a nap, walk to a restaurant for a late breakfast and then a drive to Middleton Place Plantation (we didn't actually tour that day because we missed some of the key features by getting there too late). Day 5...back to Middleton Place to take the full tour and eat our final meal in their dining room. We left Charleston to come back home that evening. It was a fun trip and brought back great memories for the many trips we took to North Carolina. It made me want to plan another family trip to a beach on the east coast!

Kaitlin 1 of 10 in national contest

Johnson Wales University sponsors a competition for teenage chefs to compete for the grand prize of a full scholarship for the next four years. They choose from over 700 applicants. Kaitlin submitted this original recipe and has won a spot to be one of ten semi finalists who go to Miami to compete in front of a panel of top chefs. The competition is coming up on April 11. Wish her luck.
